How do solar panels work?

Solar panels capture sunlight with tiny units called photovoltaic (PV) cells. These cells turn sunlight into clean electricity, which can power your home in real time. Any extra energy can be stored in a battery for later use or sent back to the grid, helping cut bills and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Yes solar panels still produce electricity on cloudy days, just at a reduced level. At night, when the panels aren’t generating, your home can automatically draw power from a connected battery or the national grid. This ensures you always have a reliable supply of energy, day and night.

Your exact savings depend on factors like roof size, energy usage, and location. Most UK households cut their electricity bills significantly and can even earn extra income by selling unused power back to the grid through the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG). Over time, this adds up to thousands in long-term savings.

Any surplus electricity your system generates can either be stored in a home battery for later use or exported back to the national grid. With the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), you’ll receive payments for the energy you share, turning your solar panels into an extra source of income.

For most homes, solar panel installation takes just 1–4 days. The exact timing depends on the size of your system and your property, but our team works efficiently to minimise disruption so you can start enjoying clean energy straight away.

Any extra electricity your system generates can be stored in your battery for later use, or exported back to the grid. Through schemes like the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), you’ll usually receive payments or credits for the energy you share, helping your system pay for itself even faster.
